Abraham's father was Abraham Grimshaw and his mother was Elizabeth Sandall. His paternal grandparents were Josiah Grimshaw and Sarah Ibbitson. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Aaron, Josiah, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah, Mehetable, Rachel and Rebecca. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 54 on May 7th, 1786 in Rawden. His burial was on May 9th, 1786 in Rawden.²
