Ann was born in 1869. Ann's father was Bennett Greenhalgh and her mother was Mary Philling. Her paternal grandparents were Squire Greenhalgh and Esther Isherwood. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named William, Jonathan, Arthur, James, Peter, Bennett, Thomas, Emily, Mary and Lizzie. She was the oldest of the eleven children.-
