Thomas was born in February 1785 in Harwood and his baptism took place on February 8th, 1785 at St. Bartholomew (Great Harwood).1  Thomas' father was Henry Gibson and his mother was Margaret (Peggy) Giles. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Cuthbert, John, Mary, Jane, Ann, Ann and Betty.
