Mary was born in May 1774 in Great Harwood and her baptism took place on May 28th, 1774 at St. Bartholomew (Great Harwood).1  Mary's father was Henry Gibson and her mother was Margaret (Peggy) Giles. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Cuthbert, John, Thomas, Jane, Ann, Ann and Betty.
