William was born in July 1841 in Ruabon and his baptism took place there on August 2nd, 1841.1 2  William's father was John Edwards and his mother was Eleanor Birch.  His paternal grandparents were William Edwards and Hester Tomlinson. He had a brother and six sisters, named Henry, Eleanor, Mary, Priscilla, Elie, Amelia and Cornelia.  He was the youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 68 on June 9th, 1910 in Chester.  He was buried in June 1910.3
