Henry was born in 1831 in Ruabon and his baptism took place there on February 12th, 1831.1  Henry's father was John Edwards and his mother was Eleanor Birch.  His paternal grandparents were William Edwards and Hester Tomlinson. He had a brother and six sisters, named William, Eleanor, Mary, Priscilla, Elie, Amelia and Cornelia.  He was the fifth oldest of the eight children.
