John Eddowes

John was born on February 24th, 1856 in Manchester and his baptism took place on May 18th, 1856 at Manchester Cathedral.¹²

John's father was John Eddowes and his mother was Mary Thomas. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Eddowes and Charlotte Morris. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Thomas, Eliza, George, Emma, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Mary and Eliza. He was the eighth oldest of the ten children.

  In 1881, John, aged 25 was still unmarried, living with his mother Mary Eddowes (63) at 8 Indigo Street, Chorlton, Manchester.
  
  In 1882, John married Jane Ramage from Glossop at Salford St Clements (C47/1/174). Another John (Thomas) Eddowes, son of John the Wheelwright, married Eliza Muster in Swinton St Peter, Salford the same year.
  
  In 1991, Jane died at Chorlton in Q2/1891
