Elizabeth was born in September 1850 in Wrexham.1  Elizabeth's father was Ralph Eddowes and her mother was Jane Davies.  Her paternal grandparents were Ralph Eddowes and Abigail Blythen. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Ralph, Harriett, Caroline, Emma, Ellen and Jane.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.
