Hannah was born in 1865 in Droylsden.1   Hannah's father was John Doxey and her mother was Sarah Worthington.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Doxey and Hannah Wimston. She had six brothers and two sisters, named William, Henry, George, James, Richard, Frank, Clara and Sara.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
