Nellie's father was Edmund Thomas Davies and her mother was Esther Davies. Her maternal grandparents were Robert Davies and Anne Daulby. She had a brother and a sister, named Benjamin and Beatrice. She was the oldest of the three children. She died at the age of 94 in November 1992 in Kidderminster.²
