Thomas was born in 1767 in Austonley and his baptism took place on March 1st, 1767 in Almondbury.1  Thomas' father was James Crosland and his mother was <Unknown>. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Jonathan, Joseph, John, Lydia, Hannah and Betty.  He was the second oldest of the seven known children.
