Betty was born in May 1785 in Austonley and her baptism took place on May 8th, 1785 in Almondbury.1  Betty's father was James Crosland and her mother was <Unknown>. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Jonathan, Joseph, John, Lydia and Hannah.  She was the youngest of the seven known children.
