Sarah was born in September 1855 in Huddersfield.¹

Sarah's father was Joseph Crosland and her mother was Sally Mann Rushworth.  Her paternal grandparents were John Crosland and Mary Wilkinson. She had three brothers and five sisters, named George, John, Joe, Mary, Matilda, Phoebe, Sarah and Phoebe.  She was the fourth youngest of the nine children.  She died at 3 months old in December 1855 in Huddersfield.¹
