Dinah's father was Hallan Percy Colston and her mother was Ida Thompson. Her maternal grandparents were Joseph Henry Osborn Thompson and Mary Ellen Woodward. She had two brothers and a sister, named Hallan, David and Daphne. She died at 3 months old in March 1944 in London.¹
