Maria was born on February 27th, 1824 in Flintshire.¹

- Maria's parents were Maria and James Wynne (from Greenfield, Flintshire, Wales). Cheshire birth registers used spellings of WYNNE, WINNE and WYNN for their children's births.
  
  In 1841, Maria was a F.S. for Thomas and Sarah Cottingham, aged 17 at a Cottage in Little Neston.
  
  By 1851, Joseph, a shoe maker, and Maria had moved to Brimstage, Wirral.
  
  In 1861, Joseph and Maria (36 & 37) were living on the Liverpool Road, Neston. Joseph was a Rural Post Office Messenger.
