• General Notes
  • In 1841, Jane Haslam was 25 living with Peter and Betty Smith at Farnworth.  She had four children with her, the youngest being Betty, born 1839.  Betty Haslam's Farnworth birth record reveals the mother's (Jane) maiden name as COLLINGE.  Also, assuming she was recently widowed, the only male Haslam death in Farnworth was Nathan Haslam in 1839, aged 30.  Their 1829 Farnworth marriage confirms this family line.  Baptism records show the family lived in Kearsley.
    
    Jane (also known as Jenny when Mary baptised) may have remarried (civil marriage). There are no indexed (CoE) marriages with the father named as Collinge or Collins. However, in 1851, the ghildren were with their grandfather Peter Smith so its also likely she had died.
