General Notes
- 14 Apr 1811, Peter Smith, a shoe maker, married Ellen Grundy at Farnworth. Witness James Smith. He also married Jemima Statham 24 Oct 1819 and had daughter Margaret in 1820. This may be him (similar signatures), but later in 1841 and 1851, when older, he is a labourer.
  
  20 Sep 1835, Peter Smith (widower) married Betty Mather (widow) at St Peter's Bolton. Witness Peter Entwistle.
  
  In 1841, Peter (a labourer) and Betty Smith (50 & 45) were living at Kersley Mill, Farnworth. With them were Jane Haslam (25) and her four Haslam children. His son Peter (12) was living with his three older half-sisters Margaret (20), Jamima (18) and Mary (16) at King's Street (nr. Deansgate), West Bolton.
  
  In 1851, Peter Smith (62, Born Kearsley) was with his three grand children David, Thomas and Betty Haslam (20, 15 and 12)
