May's father was William Calderley and her mother was Margaret Alice Mather. Her maternal grandparents were James Mather and Maria Hulme. She had two brothers and a sister, named Joseph, William and Mary. She was the youngest of the four children. She died at the age of 77 on June 7th, 1980 in Indania (IN).²
