Samuel's father was George Buckley and his mother was Sally Andrew.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Buckley and Mary Schofield. He had four brothers and four sisters, named George, John, George, Robert, Mary, Sarah, Sarah and Ann.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 18 in November 1829 in Waterhead Mill.  He was buried on November 25th, 1829 at Greenacres Chapel (Independant).¹
