Mary was born in 1769 in Uppermill and her baptism took place on October 22nd, 1769 at St. Chad (Saddleworth).1  Mary's father was William Buckley and her mother was Martha Bottomley. She had four brothers and a sister, named John, William, William, Samuel and Betty.  She was the oldest of the six children.
