Betty was born in 1784 in Delph and her baptism took place on March 14th, 1784 at St. Chad (Saddleworth).1  Betty's father was William Buckley and her mother was Martha Bottomley. She had four brothers and a sister, named John, William, William, Samuel and Mary.  She was the youngest of the six children.
