John's father was Arthur Bromiley and his mother was Abigail Fletcher.  His paternal grandparents were Arthur Bromiley and Mary Taylor. He had two brothers named Arthur and Daniel.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 63 in July 1848 in Little Bolton.  He was buried on August 3rd, 1848 in Bolton.²
