Christiana was born in 1823 in Whitley.1   Christiana's father was Thomas Briggs and her mother was Abigail Bradshaw. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Moses, William, Thomas, Nancy, Sarah, Mary and Martha.  She was the oldest of the eight children.1
