Martha was born in 1801.  Martha's father was Ralph Brereton and her mother was Alice Owen.  Her paternal grandparents were William Brereton and Martha Jennion. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, William, Ralph, Ann, Mary, Esther, Elizabeth, Ellen and Sarah.  She was the second oldest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 1 in 1802.
