Ann was born in June 1799 in Daresbury and her christening took place there on June 9th, 1799.1  Ann's father was George Brereton and her mother was Mary Smith.  Her paternal grandparents were William Brereton and Martha Jennion. She had two brothers and three sisters, named George, Thomas, Mary, Martha and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the six children.

‌Ann and James were married in a religious ceremony on October 17th, 1839 in Daresbury.2
