Dorothy was born in November 1767 in Bolton and her baptism took place on November 8th, 1767 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Dorothy's father was Robert Bolton Esq and her mother was Esther Nield. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Isaac, Catherine, Esther and Mary.  She was the youngest of the six children.  She died at the age of 74 in 1841.
