Catherine was born in 1759 in Bolton and her baptism took place on September 28th, 1759 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  Catherine's father was Robert Bolton Esq and her mother was Esther Nield. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Isaac, Esther, Mary and Dorothy.  She was the third oldest of the six children.
