Ann's father was Thomas Benyon and her mother was Mary Haslam.  Her maternal grandparents were Mathew Haslam and Charlotte Haslam. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Peter, John, William, Robert, Joseph, Charlotte, Alice and Elizabeth.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
