William's father was Henry Bennett and his mother was Eleanor (Elinor) Coppack.  His paternal grandparents were William Bennett and Anne. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Henry, Benjamin, Samuel, Charles, James, Mary, Ann and Martha.  He was the second oldest of the nine known children.  He died at the age of 68 in December 1869 in Wepre.  He was buried on December 9th, 1869 in Northop.²
