Thomas was born in 1840 in Bebington.¹ Thomas' father was Jonathan Bennett and his mother was Mary Jones. His paternal grandparents were Benjamin Bennett and Elizabeth Millington. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named John, Benjamin, Joseph, Jonathan, Samuel, William, Edward, Elizabeth, Mary and Maria. He was the youngest of the eleven children.
