Thomas Banks

Thomas was born on July 8th, 1830 in Bolton and his baptism took place on March 26th, 1837 at St. Mary (Deane).¹²

Thomas' father was Philip Banks and his mother was Sarah Bolton. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Bolton and Mary Whitaker. He had two brothers and five sisters, named John, Richard, Betty, Maria, Mary, Ann and Alice. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 56 in 1886 in Bolton.³

- In 1851, Thomas was 21 and living in Farnworth with his parents.
  
  In 1859 when he married, Thomas was at 14 Shaw Street, Great Bolton and his wife to be Elizabeth at No. 16 Shaw Street. This may have been a parade of shops.
  
  They are missing in 1861. Another Thomas and Elizabeth Banks lived in Chorley.
  
  Although fully indexed, there are no BANKS+GEADMAN births registered in Lancashire. Between 1857-72 there are several BANKS+GERMAN births, but this is for James Banks and Elizabeth German who married in Deane in 1854.
  
  In 1871, Thomas (42) was living with his cousin Ellen and her husband Josiah Welsby. Also his uncle Thomas Banks.
