William was born in 1843 in Bolton and his baptism took place on November 26th, 1843 at St. Peter's (Bolton).1  William's father was Daniel Alsop and his mother was Mary Nuttall. He had four brothers and two sisters, named William, Daniel, James, Daniel, Alice and Mary.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died as an infant at the age of 1 in 1844 in Bolton.1
