Mary's father was Daniel Alsop and her mother was Mary Nuttall. She had five brothers and a sister, named William, William, Daniel, James, Daniel and Alice.  She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.  She died as an infant at the age of 1 in November 1854 in Bolton.  She was buried on November 17th, 1854 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹
