Marie-Luce was born on December 12th, 1751 in Baie-St-Paul, Qc, Canada.  Marie-Luce's father was Joseph-Eugène Simard and her mother was Cécile Tremblay.  Her paternal grandparents were François I Simard and Ursule Paré; her maternal grandfather was Étienne Tremblay. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Louis-Henri-Joseph-Étienne, Ursule-Sophie, Joseph-François, Étienne, Marie-Joseph-Cécile, Julie-Constance, Marie-Angélique-Procule and Marie-Élisabeth. She had eight half-brothers and seven half-sisters, named Godefroy , Marie-Anne, Marie-Félicité, Louis, Isaac, Constance, Joseph-François, Étienne, Marie-Julienne, Julie-Anne, Ursule-Sophie, Marie-Joseph-Cécile, Julie-Constance, Marie-Luce and Marie-Angélique-Procule.
