Marie-Luce was born on December 12th, 1751 in Baie-St-Paul, Qc, Canada.  Marie-Luce's father was Joseph-Eugène Simard and her mother was Cécile Tremblay.  Her paternal grandparents were François I Simard and Ursule Paré. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Louis-Henri-Joseph-Étienne, Godefroy , Joseph-François, Étienne, Marie-Élisabeth, Ursule-Sophie, Marie-Joseph-Cécile, Julie-Constance and Marie-Angélique-Procule. She had eight half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Ursule-Sophie, Joseph-François, Étienne, Marie-Anne, Marie-Félicité, Louis, Isaac, Constance, Marie-Joseph-Cécile, Julie-Constance, Marie-Luce, Marie-Angélique-Procule, Marie-Julienne and Julie-Anne.
