Johannes was born on March 28th, 1902.  Johannes' father was Jacobus (Klein Koos) Corneli(u)s Martens and his mother is Maria Francina Scheepers.  His paternal grandparents were Cornelius (Basheesa) Jacobus Martens and Victoria Liversage. He had two brothers and a sister, named Cornelis (Neils), Fredrick and Helena.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 80 on January 21st, 1983.
