Jan (Tom Nkonka) was born on November 6th, 1884.  Jan (Tom Nkonka)'s father was Jan  Thomas Martens and his mother was Susannah Maria van Rooyen.  His paternal grandparents were Jan (Tommie) Thomas Martens and Anna  Catharina Elizabeth Pretorius. He had a brother and two sisters, named Gert, Johannes and Anna.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 76 on September 9th, 1961.
