David was born in 1789. David's father was Daniel Dye and his mother was Abigail Hutchinson. His paternal grandparents were Vincent Dye and Sarah Artepe. He had six brothers and a sister, named Vincent, Daniel, William, Reuben, Enoch, John and Elizabeth. He was the second youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 50 in 1839.
