Born in New Amsterdam, New York
Hans was baptized in the Dutch reformed Church at new York on September 28, 1644.
His name appears on a tax list for Haarlem in 1667. In April 1667 he was fined 40 guilders due to his outspoken resistance to British occupation of New Netherland. He married (1) Marritje Snyderken (Marritje Satyrs) before 1671 in Harlem, New York. Her father was Jan Snyderken - a shoemaker and another early settler of Harlem. Marritje died about 1672 in Harlem, New York.
Hans Laurens was selected as Collector for Richmond Co, Staten Island, New York on April 1 1699; and served a second term in 1702. He was appointed Assessor of Richmond County, Fourth Division on April 1 1703 with Vincent Fountain (step-son). 1706 census of Staten Island, Hans Laurence, aged 63; wife Sara Hance. James Hance aged 35; John Hans, Mary, Elizabeth, Sara Catherine, Anna & Lydia.
In 1677, Hans Duyts acquired 80 acres in the New Dorp section of Staten Island by patent, which later passed to his son Jeams/James. It adjoined the property of Antoine Fountaine. Antoine Fontaine married Sarah Hance Vincent before 1680. He was born in France and his parents are not known. Antoine died about 1686 in Staten Island, New York. Antoine Fountaine and Sara Hance had 2 children.
Hans Laurens married (3) Sarah Hance Vincent Fountaine about 1686. She was born before 1660 in New York, the daughter of John Vincent and Suzanna Blaise She died about 1740.
Hans and Marritje were married in 1670. They had three sons and a daughter, named William, Issac, Hanson and Catharina.

James (Hanson) Hans Duyts
James, known as Hanson, was born on December 31st, 1671. He died at the age of 74 in 1745.
Catharina Duyts
Catharina was born on June 13th, 1674. She died at the age of 94 in 1768.
Hans and Jannetje were married in a religious ceremony in 1675. They had two sons named Richard and Laurens.

Will of John Laurens Dye:
By his will dated Oct. 1, 1750, proved March 8, 1750 or 51, he names wife Anne, sons John, David, William, James, Vinson [Vincent] and Joseph, and daughters Anne and Katherine. Executors, my son John, my son William and my son-in-law, Lawrence Dye (son of James Dey -- Lawrence married Anne, daughter of John Laurens Dey).
"He devises to his eldest son John, the just sum of five pounds at 8 S. Per ounce to David the just sum of fifty pounds at 8S. Per ounce. To his sons William, James,Vinson, and Joseph, and daughters Anne and Katherine allt (sic) the remainder of the money arising from the sale of my estate to be equally divided amongst them, their heirs, ect. The land was encumbered, the interest on the debt was to be paid by his wife, and to whom, he leaves the use during her life. Also devises to her during life the personalty after payment of debts except therefrom the debt upon the plantation. After the death of his wife, and sale of the property, proceeds to be divided as above set forth. "
