Nicolaus  was born on May 4th, 1581 in Antwerp.1   His godfather was Arnaut Kint and his godmother was Sara Vermuys.  Nicolaus 's father was Adriaen BROERS  and his mother was  Maria Van de Poter (Maeyken).  His paternal grandparents were Joannes  BROERS  and Elisabeth Van Haecht . He had three brothers and three sisters, named Joannes , Adrianus , Michael , Elisabeth , Sara  and Elisabeth .  He was the fifth oldest of the seven children.  He died as an infant at 11 months old on April 25th, 1582.
