William Allen was born in 1849.  William Allen's father was Oliver Perry Jackson and his mother was Susan Jane Powell.  His paternal grandparents were William Jackson and Sarah Sally McSwain; his maternal grandparents were Lovely Abraham Powell and Sarah Allen.  He was the third of seven children.  He had four brothers and two sisters, named James Lewis, David Daniel, John Howard, Durrett W., Susan Jane and Margaret Ann.  He died at the age of 31 in 1880.
