Durrett W. was born in February 1860.  Durrett W.'s father was Oliver Perry Jackson and his mother was Susan Jane Powell.  His paternal grandparents were William Jackson and Sarah Sally McSwain; his maternal grandparents were Lovely Abraham Powell and Sarah Allen.  He was the youngest of seven children.  He had four brothers and two sisters, named James Lewis, William Allen, David Daniel, John Howard, Susan Jane and Margaret Ann.  He died at the age of 51 on January 15th, 1912.
