Susan Jane was born in 1846.  Susan Jane's father was Oliver Perry Jackson and her mother was Susan Jane Powell.  Her paternal grandparents were William Jackson and Sarah Sally McSwain; her maternal grandparents were Lovely Abraham Powell and Sarah Allen.  She was the second of seven children.  She had five brothers and a sister, named James Lewis, William Allen, David Daniel, John Howard, Durrett W. and Margaret Ann.  She died at the age of 19 in 1865.
