William was born in 1793.  William's father was John Jackson Jr. and his mother was Mary Forest Hancock.  His paternal grandparents were John Sr. Jackson and Mary Elizabeth Hodges.  He was the fourth of nine children.  He had seven brothers and a sister, named Humphrey Tunsil, Jarvis, George E., Hancock Lee, Lee, John H., Stephen Marshall and Minerva Catherine.  He died at the age of 57 in 1850.
