Harm was born on January 29th, 1852 in Diever.1  Harm's father was Jan Harms Veenstra and his mother was Grietje Bartelds Oost.  His paternal grandparents were Harm Jans Veenstra and Geesjen Klaassen Haveman; his maternal grandparents were Barteld Hilberts Oost and Grietje Jacobs Punt. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Barteld, Egbert, Geesje and Grietje.  He was the second youngest of the five children.  He died at the age of 76 on January 19th, 1929 in Steenwijk.2
