Vrouwtje  was born on December 5th, 1751 in Oosthuizen. Vrouwtje 's father was Claas Melisz Spaans and her mother was Maartje Sijmons Paauw / Pauw.  Her paternal grandfather was Melis Spaans; her maternal grandfather was Sijmens Paauw. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Melis, Sijmen, Jan, Cornelis, Cornelis, Sijmen, Sijmen, Aagje and Aagje.  She was the second oldest of the ten children.
