Sara was born in 1705 in , Nottinghamshire, , England.  Sara's father was Thomas Dexter and her mother was Anne Bexon.  Her maternal grandparents were Richard Bexon and Ann. She had four brothers and four sisters, named George, Thomas, Robert, Joseph, Ann, Mary, Elizabeth and Susana.  She was the fourth oldest of the nine children.
