William Henry WITNEY 
William was born in 1909 in Bendigo, VIC.1 William's father was Arthur John WITNEY and his mother was Elizabeth Baird WHITELAW. His paternal grandparents were Arthur Beniah WITNEY and Isabella Ann BARTON; his maternal grandparents were James Alexander WHITELAW and Grace Sommerville BAIRD. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Arthur, Albert, Edward, Hazel, Clarice, Ellen, Mary and Grace. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children.-
