John J. BALFE 
John J. was born on December 6th, 1876 in Ontario, Canada. John J.'s father was Thomas BALFE and his mother was Ann HOURIGAN. His paternal grandparents were Thomas BALFE and Sarah (Sarah) KENNY; his maternal grandparents were Michael HOURIGAN and Bridget MALONEY. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Thomas, Michael Fredrick, Mark Leo, Sarah, (Bridget) Leone, Evelyn Ann, Mary T. and Gertrude C.. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 30 on May 2nd, 1907.General Notes
In is obit it says: " John Balf was from S. Elmsley. As mentioned on Tues, he had gone to Hamilton to visit his brother, Dr. Thomas Balfe, before the latter, sailed to Europe. While there, he had taken ill after his brothers departure as was taken to hospital (St. Josephs). A telegram yesterday said he was better but the improvement was temporary and in the early hour in the morning he passed away. He had not enjoyed good health for some time. He suffered from rheumatism and in the end, this affected his heart, which caused his death. Mr. Balfe was the son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Balfe of S. Elmsley and he was well known in the community. He was married last October. He was 30 years old. The funeral is at fathers residence then to St. Francis de Salle, then to Roman Catholic Cemetery."
