Matthew was born in 1811 in Kirtling, Cambridgeshire, England.1   Matthew's father was Thomas Crick and his mother is Sarah Trundey.  His paternal grandfather was John Crick and his paternal grandmother is Mary. He had five brothers and five sisters, named William, Joseph, Thomas, john, Richard, Rhoda, sally ann, Ellen, catherine and Elizabeth.  He was the oldest of the eleven children. He had a half-sister named Ann.  He died at the age of 80 in June 1891 in Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, United Kingdom.2
